Why Donors Like You Are So Important
Our clients regularly face challenges that prevent them from applying for benefits they desperately need. Mr. P., of Detroit, found himself unable to put food on his table at 86 years of age. Like many MiCAFE clients, Mr. P. had to get by on a fixed income. After monthly shelter and medical expenses of over $300, Mr. P. had little money left for food.
Living in poverty, Mr. P. had to take food from his neighbors to make it through the day. Mr. P. knew he needed help, but was unsure of where to go or how to apply for assistance. Eventually, a friend of Mr. P. told him she had heard about a program called MiCAFE.
Mr. P. called MiCAFE. Because he was homebound, he was assigned to the MiCAFE Mobile Team. Mr. P. was approved for $200 a month in food assistance, allowing him to put food on the table, including fresh fruits and vegetables, and freeing up money for his medical bills. He no longer had to ask his neighbors for help and could purchase his own food. Without MiCAFE, Mr. P. would have have had been able to access food assistance and would have had to go without food, risking his health and well-being.
Because of a donor like you, we were able to provide Mr. P. with the services, information, and resources that he needed to put food on his table. Join us in helping your friends, neighbors, and family meet their basic needs and get the care they deserve.
