Advisory Council Meeting

Elder Law of Michigan Launches Advisory Council-- More Older Adults Invited to Join

In June 2010, Elder Law of Michigan launched a new version of its statewide Advisory Council. Serving as Elder Law of Michigan's "ear to the ground", the goal of the Advisory Council is to hear from older adults around the state about the pressing legal, financial and other concerns of Michigan's older adults. The feedback and information will be used to inform and guide our advocacy work and to empower Elder Law of Michigan staff to develop responsive programming to address needs or gaps. The Council will assist in planning and provide a vital connection to the grassroots: our clients and prospective clients.

We hope that reviving the Advisory Council acts as an opportunity to provide information and education to community leaders while fostering dialog among seniors from around the state. Advisory Council members will be more than a conduit for information to us; they will also be informal ambassadors for Elder Law of Michigan at the local, community level to direct older adults to our programs and services. If you are or know a retired person who would like to join our Advisory Council, please contact Sarah Titius at stitus@elderlawofmi.org.
